What
is the BaseFile Domain Name Catalog?
BaseFile.com is a domain
name exchange where users can buy and sell
domain names at fixed prices, and/or receive
offers for their listed domain names. To become
a member of the BaseFile community, all you
have to do is complete a small
registration form, and that's it! You
can begin buying, selling or both right away.
The best thing about BaseFile is that it's
FREE, that's
right, we said free. There are absolutely
no costs associated with the BaseFile domain
catalog. No listing fees, no membership fees,
no sales fees, no commissions, nothing.
Why is it free? The prices
you see in the domain after-market everywhere
else have one thing in common: The prices
are all inflated. Sellers are increasing the
prices of their domain in order to recoup
the sales fees and commissions that they are
forced to pay. Using the BaseFile Exchange
helps to benefit both buyers and sellers alike.
Sellers are able to list their domains at a much more reasonable price considering there is no overhead to account for.
This is a huge
benefit to buyers, allowing them to keep their
budgets in line, and not having to pay the
markup that sellers are accustom to paying.
Domain sellers reap the benefits of our free
system as well. They can sell more domains,
as they are able to keep their prices realistic.
BaseFile.com is a community-oriented
service. One based upon the idea that there
is "More power in numbers".
Instead of conforming to the idea that the
only way to have a successful service is to
charge a substantial sum of money for services,
we believe that our user's intelligence, effort,
dedication, and 'good-will' of our user community
will better define and shape the success and
longevity of our site. You, as a member of
the BaseFile community can help focus the
efforts of BaseFile.com by actively participating
in the direction and ongoing development efforts
of our community to make it a success. For
ideas on how you can help contribute to this
site, be sure to read the "How
Can I Help" section.
How
does the BaseFile process work?
For both buyers and sellers,
the first thing you need to do, is set up
your Member account. If you have not done
so already, you can complete
the New Member Registration Form here.
After creating your account, you will probably
want to complete the additional information
located in your user profile. These additional
items include alternate means of communication
that other members of the BaseFile community
can use to contact you. The other items in
your profile, that are particularly important
for sellers, contain details for payment options,
so that potential buyers can pay you directly
when using 'Buy Now' options. Make sure when
completing the details of your profile to
use correct Name, Organization, and Address
information, as this information will be used
by sellers when transferring domains to you
after a domain name purchase is completed.
Buying a domain from the
BaseFile Catalog is simple. You can browse
for domain names by category, using the category
menu on the left hand side of every page (accept
in the Members section) Or you can use the
search form located on the top of every page
to search the catalog for whatever keywords
you are looking for at the moment. To view
all domains listed by any given seller, you
can access their list of domains by using
the link under their profile page. Also their
is an Advanced Search form that you can use
to help narrow down your list in a variety
of different ways. The Advanced
Search can be found here.
For users who wish to sell
their domain names, the listing process is
very user friendly. After you have registered
as a BaseFile user, just access the member's
section, and click on the 'Add New Domain'
link on the left side menu. There, you will
also find all of the buyer, and seller related
links you will need to accept and decline
offers made on domains, complete purchases,
import bulk domain lists, access data feeds
that you can use on your sites, and much,
much more.
How
can I help the BaseFile Community?
The success of this site
and the services provided here on the BaseFile
Exchange is completely dependant on the efforts
of our users. We charge no fees or commissions
and therefore have no revenue stream to support
the maintenance, costs, and user support that
is required for any successful business. We
are under the firm belief that our user community
can benefit greatly from our free services,
and can continue to make this site a success
by taking an active role in our community,
and helping to support this site in a number
of different ways.
Everything that you do will
also be tracked, and you can earn Community
Points that are viewable to all members under
your User Profile. Community Points are a
way to track contributions (both in the form
of monetary donations, and services) made
on your behalf that help benefit the BaseFile
Project. Ever time you do something that helps
to benefit our community and the success of
the site you will earn Community Points. These
points serve multiple purposes. The first,
being a symbol of pride and dedication that
others can see. Buyers often use these points
in their buying decisions, choosing to purchase
domains from members that are making an effort
to further the success of the site. In addition,
the number of Community Points you have is
the primary criteria used when approving a
user to become a BaseFile
Moderator. There are also plans in the
near future to allow members to exchange their
"CP" for services such as domain
registrations and hosting.

of things you can do to help the BaseFile
Community. Remember, these are just ideas,
feel free to do anything you feel might contribute

have been used to pay for hosting services,

services. If money is used from the donation
pool for any other idea we may have at the
time, we will post an opinion poll in the
member's section asking members to vote on
the usage of funds. You
can make a Paypal donation by clicking here.
